OVERVIEW
This is our first 2022 software release for the Graupner mz-16 and mz-32 radios brings many new innovations and enhancements to the Graupner radio.
This release takes personalization and customization of the radio system several steps ahead in our industry.
With the new UI (user interface) and voice toolkit, the radio can be customized with its own look and feel while also allowing the user to quickly create and generate voice notifications with little to no complexities.
User and voice notices can now be customized to use user-created voice files adding another level to the customization and personalization functionality of the radio.
We added two new wing and tail mixer types and expanded the functionality of the in-flight direct adjust system with many additional improvements for managing and setting up models faster and easier.
This release also adds support for turbine telemetry. With over fifty telemetry data sets such as screen widgets, telemetry notifications, user-configurable notifications, and real-time sensor switches, the mz-16 and mz-32 provide unsurpassed connectivity to our turbine customers.
The widget system has been further expanded with many new widget types for new telemetry data types.
We also added new graphing and plotting widgets for a wide range of telemetry data types, allowing users to analyze data sets such as altitude, current, voltage, speed, and others in real-time.
The GPS map widget is now easier to use with the new online GPS Map Maker. Maps can now be loaded by entering the map name in the widget, automatically loading the proper map coordinates.
This release also includes numerous fixes and user-requested functions that show our commitment to our customers and brand.
UPDATING
Updating to this new version will require several steps to ensure that all the needed software and resources are downloaded and installed on the radio.
While the software can be downloaded and installed using built-in WiFi communication, it will be faster and more efficient to use the firmware software updater to ensure a proper installation.
Before updating your radio, make a backup of all your models and any other files you installed, such as custom voices and images.
Place the radio in Mass Storage Mode (System/USB/Mass Storage).
Start the firmware upgrade studio to perform the updates.
Make sure to check the download resource files checkbox.
Check out our YouTube videos showing how to update the radio.
After the firmware has been downloaded and installed, you can copy your files back to the radio.
IMPORTANT!
After the update, when loading a model used in a previous software version, it needs to be converted to support the new software version.
This is easily done by loading the model and restarting the radio or loading another model.
This will save the current loaded model to the radios storage card with the new model format.
The same needs to be done to add support for the new widget types. Load your model with your preferred widget layout and save it in the system set, preset widget menu.

Wireless LAN Update
Update the radio software over Wi-Fi, will now also include resources such as voice, help and system files. Using this update method is significantly slower compared to using the available software updater utilities. If you still get a resource file update needed after restarting the radio, there may be additional files such as manuals and other type of documentations which will require using the updater utility software.
Widgets Text Colors
Each widget can now have a different text color which can be selected from the widget detail dialog.
Tap on the text color field to change and cycle between colors.
Custom User Startup Image
User can now have their own custom splash screen during radio startup. If no model startup image is located (S_modle_name.bmp) and a S_username.bmp or S_user.bmp is found it will be used during the model load. If neither is found, the radio default splash screen is loaded.
The image type is Windows BMP and must have the following format:
480 x 272 pixels, 24bit at 72dpi.
Default Startup Image
Model Startup Image (S_model_name.bmp)
User Startup Image (S_user.bmp)
Custom User Voice Files Folder
This release provides a custom user folder under the voice folder named DV.
The generated voice files need to be stored under the DV folder when using the voice toolkit.
To have the radio use the custom generated voice files, you will need to select “User Voice” from the system/system set/voice menu and restart the radio.
Note that the folder 01_Beep may need to be copied from other folders, or you will have to make your own custom sounds
